Lighting Setups That Work
Natural window light (indirect — not direct sun hitting the figure) is the cleanest option for most collectors. Position the figure 30-60 cm from a north or east-facing window in the morning for soft, even light.
For artificial light, a single softbox or ring light positioned at 45 degrees to the figure creates dimension. Direct overhead light flattens the form.
RGB backgrounds and colored lighting create interesting effects with Labubu figures — the Pink Fang Edition responds particularly well to cool (blue/purple) lighting. Experiment with color relationships between your lighting and the figure's colorway.
Backgrounds and Settings
Seamless white or gray paper backgrounds isolate the figure cleanly for documentation-style shots. Good for showing the figure accurately.
Textured backgrounds (wood grain, concrete, fabric) add context and are more social-media-friendly. The 'casual collector shelf' look — figure naturally placed among books and plants — performs well on Instagram and TikTok.
Scale context shots (figure next to a recognizable object — a book, a mug, a hand) communicate the 18 cm size instantly. Very useful for any selling or trading context.
Best Angles for Each Edition
Duck Edition: front-facing and 3/4 angle are both strong. The face and character design read clearly from directly in front.
Snow Wing Edition: slightly elevated angle (shooting slightly downward) emphasizes the wing details. 3/4 from the side shows the full silhouette.
Pink Fang Edition: front-facing or low-angle (shooting slightly upward) gives it presence. Close-up on the fang detail makes for compelling detail shots.
All three: avoid shooting directly overhead — the figures' best features are in the face and front design.
