StockX: Authentication and Price Transparency
StockX authenticates every figure before it reaches the buyer, which eliminates counterfeit risk from the buyer side. Price transparency is excellent — you can see the last sale price and bid/ask spread for any listed product.
Fees are on the higher side (seller fees typically 9–12%, plus transaction fees for buyers). StockX is best for high-value pieces where authentication is worth the premium. For common blind box editions, the fee structure makes it harder to compete on price.
eBay: Volume, Flexibility, and Caution Required
eBay has the largest volume of Labubu listings and the widest price range. You can find both great deals and overpriced items — the variation requires more research. eBay's Money Back Guarantee provides buyer protection for items not as described.
For sellers, eBay's fees (typically 13–15% for designer toys) are competitive. Listing is flexible: auction format for rare items, fixed price for common editions. Caution: counterfeit risk is real on eBay. Always check seller feedback score, number of completed sales, and request QR code photos before purchasing.
Whatnot: Live Auctions and Community
Whatnot runs live-streamed auctions where sellers present figures in real time. This format creates community around the sale and lets buyers see the actual physical item before bidding. It's become a significant venue for blind box openings and rare figure sales.
Prices on Whatnot can go in either direction — competition drives prices up on desirable items, while less-demanded pieces sometimes sell below market. The live format is entertaining, but buying impulsively in an auction environment can result in overpaying.
Mercari and Vinted: Lower Fees, More Work
Mercari and Vinted have lower seller fees than eBay or StockX (5–10% depending on the platform), which can mean better prices for both parties. The tradeoff is less built-in buyer protection and a less-curated marketplace.
Both work well for casual sellers and buyers who are comfortable doing more due diligence. For buyers: always ask for QR code authentication before completing purchase. For sellers: clear photos and accurate condition descriptions lead to faster sales and fewer returns.
