Labubu Storage and Organization Ideas for Growing Collections

For collections under 20 figures, a single display case or dedicated shelf section is sufficient. For 20–50 figures, a modular shelving system with separate storage rotation keeps displayed pieces fresh. Over 50, categorize by series or acquisition date and store non-displayed pieces in their original boxes in labeled bins.

Display vs. Storage: The Core Decision

Every collector eventually faces the reality that not everything can be on display. The question becomes: which pieces are display figures (out, visible, accessible) and which are stored inventory (protected, catalogued, not currently displayed)?

A practical rule: if you haven't looked at a figure in 3 months and it's just taking up shelf space, it's a storage candidate — either rotate it out to storage and bring in something you connect with more, or consider trading or selling it.

Organization Systems That Work

By series: group all figures from the same line together. Clear visually and easy to find specific pieces. Best for collectors who are series-completionists.

By acquisition date: newer pieces displayed prominently, older pieces gradually moved to storage as novelty fades. Keeps the display feeling fresh. Works for collectors who like variety over completionism.

By display aesthetic: color groupings or size groupings regardless of series. Looks best from a design perspective. Harder to find specific pieces quickly but creates the most visually cohesive display.

For stored pieces: original boxes are the best storage container. Label the outside of each box with the series and figure name in marker — you shouldn't have to open every box to find what you're looking for.

Physical Storage Solutions

Shallow plastic bins with lids (the kind sold for under-bed storage) work well for box-in-box storage of multiple figures. Each original box goes into the bin, labels facing up. Stack no more than 3 bins high.

Cube shelving (IKEA Kallax or similar) is the standard in the collector community — each cube holds either a display grouping or stores several boxed figures behind a door. The modular format grows with the collection.

For travel or moving: never put multiple figures loose in the same bag. Each figure should be in its original foam insert or individually wrapped in tissue paper. Direct contact between vinyl surfaces during transport causes paint transfer marks.
