Vrbo Photo Size Checker
TL;DR: Vrbo publishes a 1024×683px minimum and recommends 3840×2160px or higher. Horizontal photos display best, though portrait is accepted. Choose a local photo below to check its dimensions in your browser.
Vrbo's recommended resolution is notably higher than its bare minimum — a photo that just clears the floor can still look soft compared to listings shot and uploaded at the recommended size. Checking both numbers before uploading tells you which situation you're actually in.

Only the available rules listed for each platform are checked; even a pass does not guarantee upload acceptance. The decoded image width and height shown above are compared as-is; this check does not swap them to match a landscape recommendation. A platform may accept other orientations even when a portrait image falls below a landscape size recommendation.

Minimum dimensions and recommended dimensions answer different questions. These examples describe the dimension comparison only; format, source quality, and your full photo set still need review.
| Image dimensions | Meaning | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| 900×600 | Below the listed minimum | Find the camera original or retake |
| 1280×853 | Meets the minimum; below recommendation | Look for a larger original and inspect detail |
| 3840×2160 | Meets the listed dimension targets | Review sharpness, light, and the gallery |

The checker reviews one image. Vrbo also requires at least six unique photos to stay published. For multi-unit properties, include a building exterior, an interior or lobby, three guest-room photos, and a bathroom. Duplicate images do not count.
- Review duplicates, sharpness, lighting, and overlays yourself.
- For a small image, choose a larger original or retake it. Resizing cannot recover missing detail.
- After uploading, review rejected photos in Vrbo's Photos area or photo errors in your software's integration audit.
These are separate listing checks; this tool does not verify your published photo count or Vrbo's acceptance decision.
FAQ
Why does my Vrbo photo get a size warning rather than pass?
An image can meet the listed 1024×683 minimum while falling below the recommended 3840×2160 size. This checker marks that gap for review. It compares width and height as listed, so an accepted portrait orientation can also receive a dimension warning. This is not a live Vrbo upload test.
Will the crop-and-resize download improve my photo quality?
No. It creates a center-cropped JPEG at 3840×2160 pixels. The crop may remove room details, and enlarging a small source does not recover detail. Review the preview and recheck the downloaded file before deciding to use it.
Does this checker review the number of Vrbo photos?
No. It checks one image's file attributes. Vrbo requires at least six unique listing photos; multi-unit properties also need exterior, interior or lobby, guest-room, and bathroom coverage. Review that set yourself.
What is Vrbo's minimum photo size?
Vrbo publishes 1024×683 pixels as its minimum and recommends 3840×2160 pixels or higher. Dimensions alone do not determine whether a photo will be accepted.
Does Vrbo accept portrait photos?
Vrbo says horizontal photos display best, but vertical orientation is also acceptable.
What formats and file-size limit does Vrbo list?
Vrbo's linked photo guidelines list JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, and SVG, but do not state a file-size limit.
Vrbo accepts portrait photos, though landscape displays best. This checker compares width and height as listed and does not check blur, watermarks, or the required number of unique photos. For lighting and color corrections, see Vrbo photo editing.

A usable photo that needs a lighting edit?
Size checking is free. Photo processing requires a paid subscription. For a dark but usable original, review a real Auto example and the available editing modes before choosing a plan.
