It's a deterministic color-grade transformation: it darkens overall exposure, applies a cool blue tint, and adds a soft vignette to your existing daytime exterior photo. It's not a substitute for a real twilight shoot with staged interior lighting or a sky replacement, but it's a fast, included way to get a twilight-style mood on photos you already have.

How the twilight color grade actually works

Twilight mode is a deterministic image-processing pipeline, not a generative model — which is worth being upfront about. It runs three adjustments on your uploaded photo in sequence: it lowers overall brightness to simulate dusk-level ambient light, applies a cool blue tint shift across the whole image (the same color-temperature move a real camera makes when shooting after sunset), and composites a soft radial vignette to darken the corners the way a wide-angle lens does at dusk. Because it's a fixed transformation rather than an AI model generating new pixels, results are fast (processed in the same pipeline as Auto and Vivid mode — no queue, no wait) and consistent from photo to photo.

This is different from voxelyo's AI Enhance mode, which does run a full generative model for harder cases (heavy noise, very low light) and takes roughly one to three minutes per photo instead of being near-instant.

When twilight mode isn't the right fit

Being honest about the limits: twilight mode works on the photo you give it — it doesn't turn on exterior lights, add a sunset sky, or invent architectural lighting that wasn't in the original shot. If your source photo was taken in flat midday light with no visible sky or exterior fixtures, the twilight grade will still darken and tint the image, but the result will look more like a color-graded daytime photo than a true dusk shot. It also won't remove daytime shadows or reflections that a real twilight shoot's different sun angle would have avoided in the first place. For listings where twilight is the entire selling point (waterfront homes, pools, outdoor entertaining spaces), a real twilight photo shoot still produces a more convincing result — twilight mode is best used as a fast, no-cost way to try the look on photos you already have, not a guaranteed replacement for every situation.
