Fix blurry Airbnb photos: what editing can and can't improve
TL;DR: Auto may adjust exposure on darker photos, apply mild sharpening, and resize an image. It is not a dedicated noise or compression repair tool, and severe missed focus or motion blur cannot be reliably restored.
A photo can come out soft for several different reasons — low light forcing a slow shutter, digital zoom stretching pixels, or a photo that's been through several rounds of text-message or email compression. A correction pass may help with some of these issues, but it cannot recreate detail that the camera never captured.

Identify what makes the photo look soft
Grain from a dim room
Grain or colored speckles across much of the frame can come from a phone raising sensor gain in low light. Dedicated denoise filters may make some noise less visible, but can also soften fine texture. Voxelyo Auto is not a dedicated denoising mode; its exposure adjustment may leave grain visible or make it more noticeable. More usable light and a steady phone can improve the next capture; compare the edited result at full size before deciding to use it.
Low resolution or a heavy crop
A small original or a tight digital crop contains fewer recorded pixels. Upscaling can make the file larger and sharpening can increase edge contrast, but neither recreates fine texture that was not captured. If you still have the camera original, use it instead of a screenshot or messaging-app copy.
Compression blocks or halos
Repeated JPEG saving, screenshots, or messaging apps can leave block patterns, ringing around edges, or a muddy look. General correction tools do not guarantee removal of compression artifacts or recovery of the original data. Start from the highest-quality original you can find.
Missed focus or camera movement
If one part of the room is sharp while the intended subject is not, focus may have landed in the wrong place. Directional streaking or doubled edges can indicate camera or subject movement. Sharpening cannot reliably reconstruct the missing detail; for a listing hero image, retake it with the phone supported, tap the important area to focus, and use a timer if touching the shutter moves the phone.
These clues are a starting point, not a definitive diagnosis. A photo can have more than one cause. Compare the full-size original and result, and keep the original file.

- Find the best original. Use the camera file rather than a screenshot or messaging-app copy, wipe the lens, and inspect the important area at full size.
- If it is dark or small but still contains visible edges, you can compare a paid Auto result with the original. Auto may adjust exposure, apply mild sharpening, and resize; it does not diagnose blur or promise to remove grain, compression damage, or missed focus.
- If the key feature is out of focus or smeared by movement, retake it when possible: brace the phone, tap the important area to focus, wait for focus, and use a short timer. Sharpening cannot reliably recreate the missing detail.
- For an overcast exterior sky, AI sky replacement is a separate generative task, not a blur or low-light repair. Review the output for changes outside the sky before publishing.
When to retake the photo
A correction pass cannot reliably recover fine detail lost through severe missed focus, camera shake, subject movement, or a very small crop. It can also make a technically sharper-looking image less natural by increasing noise or edge halos. When blur obscures a feature guests need to judge—such as the bed, bathroom fixtures, or a safety-related detail—the dependable option is a new photo. Keep edits truthful to the property and compare the final image with what guests will see on arrival.

Can Voxelyo fix a photo that is out of focus?
It may increase the apparent edge crispness, but it cannot reliably recreate detail that was never captured in focus. If the subject is clearly out of focus, retaking the photo is usually the better choice.
Can it fix camera shake or motion blur?
