Channel 1: Retail — $18–22, Best Price, Worst Availability
Retail (us.popmart.com, Pop Mart stores) is the absolute best price for any authentic Labubu. $18–22 per blind box. The problem: sells out in minutes on popular series.
Strategy: enable Pop Mart app notifications, follow their Instagram, bookmark us.popmart.com. When a drop notification fires: act immediately. Have payment saved, be logged in. Window is 2–5 minutes for popular series.
Channel 2: eBay Auctions — Timing Matters
eBay auctions ending at inconvenient times (early morning, weekday midday) often close lower than peak. Sellers list 7-day auctions which end at the same time of day they started — if started at 2am Tuesday, it ends at 2am Tuesday.
Use eBay's 'ending soonest' filter to find auctions about to close. Last-minute sniping (bidding in the final 30 seconds) is a real strategy. Automated snipe tools (JustSnipe, Gixen) handle this without sitting at the computer.
Channel 3: Mercari — Often Underpriced vs eBay
Mercari sellers often price below eBay because their buyer pool is smaller. The same figure might sell for $65 on eBay but $50 on Mercari from a motivated seller.
Mercari also allows offers — many sellers accept 10–15% below asking. Start with a reasonable offer; unreasonably low offers get ignored but reasonable ones often land.
Channel 4: Local Facebook/Craigslist — Best Deals, Most Work
Local Facebook Marketplace and collector groups occasionally surface great deals from people who received duplicates or are clearing collections. Prices can be significantly below eBay.
Downside: authentication in person is required, pickup is necessary, and quality control is entirely on you. Only worth it for significant savings ($20+ below market) given the effort.
When Buying Alternative Is Smarter Than Hunting Deals
If you've spent more than 2 hours trying to find a specific edition at a good price: calculate your time cost. For many collectors, $49.90 for the specific edition they want from Labubu Studio is more efficient than 3 hours of eBay hunting for a $10 saving.
The 3D printed option isn't the cheapest in absolute terms — retail is. But when retail is unavailable and you need to choose between secondhand market friction vs. fixed-price direct order, the value calculation often favors direct.
