Labubu Premium PLA: Is It Safe and Durable? Full Material Guide

Premium PLA is non-toxic, stable, and the material used in every Labubu figure we ship — here's what that actually means for longevity.

What Is Premium PLA?

PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a bioplastic derived from renewable resources like corn starch or sugarcane. Premium PLA is a refined grade of this material that produces cleaner prints with better surface quality than standard PLA. It's the most widely used material for high-quality 3D-printed collectibles and designer figures.

Is It Safe?

Yes. PLA is non-toxic, does not emit harmful VOCs during normal handling or display, and is considered food-safe in its raw form (though our figures are not for food use). It's used in medical devices, packaging, and consumer goods worldwide. There are no harmful chemicals to worry about in normal display conditions.

How Durable Is PLA?

At room temperature and out of direct sunlight, Premium PLA is extremely stable. It doesn't yellow, doesn't degrade, and holds its shape indefinitely under normal display conditions. The main thing to avoid is prolonged exposure to temperatures above 40°C (e.g., a car dashboard in summer sun) — at high temperatures, PLA can soften and warp.

Long-Term Care

Dust with a soft dry cloth. Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods. Keep away from heat sources. No special sealants or treatments are needed — the material is stable as-is. The care card included with every order covers full maintenance details.
