When Standard Shipping Is the Right Choice
Standard USPS Priority Mail is the default for a reason: it's reliable, trackable, and delivers in 3–7 business days to most US addresses — fast enough for virtually all non-urgent purchases. For collecting purposes, waiting 5 days versus 2 days for a figure you'll display for years is not a meaningful difference.
Cost comparison: standard shipping on a typical Labubu order is $6–$10. Express is $28–$40. The $20–$30 premium on express buys you roughly 3–5 days. Unless those 3–5 days are genuinely valuable, standard is the right call.
When Express Shipping Is Worth It
Time-sensitive gifts: a birthday, anniversary, or holiday that requires delivery by a specific date. When you need certainty, express shipping with its delivery guarantee is worth the premium. Order early enough that you're not paying for express due to procrastination.
A limited drop you just learned about: occasionally, a limited edition becomes available with short notice and you want it fast before it potentially sells out. Getting express delivery ensures you have the figure confirmed in hand quickly.
International shipping exception: for international orders, the express vs. standard gap is larger (5–10 days vs. 10–21 days) and the cost premium is proportionally smaller relative to the total order value. For international orders with any time sensitivity, express makes more sense than it does domestically.
The Honest Math
If you're debating between standard and express, ask: is there a real consequence if this arrives on Day 7 instead of Day 2? For most collecting purposes, the answer is no. Save the $20–$30 shipping premium and apply it toward another figure.
The exception: when you know you have a specific date and that date is close, don't gamble on standard. Express shipping is insurance against delivery timing risk. The one time standard delivery runs long and you miss a birthday is more costly emotionally than the $30 shipping premium on every order.
Practical rule: if the purchase is for yourself, standard. If it's for a specific event with a fixed date within 7 business days, express.
